Aux Cinq Sens is now a Friend of the Starry Sky!

A starlit sky preservation designation

It is with great pleasure that we received the designation “Friend of the Starry Sky” from the Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve. This is a unique recognition in Quebec confirming the efforts of our site, which follows the best recognized eco-lighting practices to preserve the quality of the night skies. We have highlighted the four recommendations:

Orientation : Our fixtures are directed toward the ground to eliminate light sent toward the sky and the horizon.

Color : We use light sources with an amber color and warm tones.

Intensity : We use minimal power (watts) for a subdued lighting that meets the need.

Schedule : We manage the period and duration of outdoor lighting use to illuminate only at the appropriate time.
